Hello,
I've been trying to learn Japanese for a very short while, but all on my own. I found Genkier on iTunes and was excited to learn that I can follow along with an actual course. Thank you very much, Tony. I also speak Spanish and some Russian. (My goal is to eventually speak one language for each continent.)
I innocently enough thought that I could learn the alphabet and some basic grammar now, and latter work at learning the language with more vocabulary. This is what happened with Russian and helped when I started seriously learning the language. Then, of course, I learned that Japanese has Two alphabets and the Kanji! I guess learning to read Japanese is the hardest part of learning the language. Anyway, now I'm really getting into it.
Another one of my interests is sewing. I've been trying to learn patternmaking since I rarely like whatever is in style. I understand that there are some great books in Japanese so maybe I'll be able to read them some day soon. :) I also love Japanese art, especially Hiroshige.
