This group is for students enrolled in JPNS 1001/1002 at UGA, and others who would like to study along with us or assist beginning Japanese students. This group will be used for communication between students and distance learners.

Please use the group forums to ask questions and join in our discussions of the course. There you can also find links to the course syllabus and other files used in the course.

The attached PDF file explains what you need to do to start using Anki with our first deck. The first deck we will use covers all of the hiragana and katakana in James Heisig's Remembering the Kana, which we will be using for the first few weeks of class.

This file also explains how to submit your Anki decks to me, and so is required reading for all students registered in my JPNS 1001 class for Fall 2009!

The Anki deck attached to this post contains the greetings (あいさつ) given in Genki Lesson 1. どうもありがとう to かわだ せんせい for creating the basic version of the deck, and to our class assistant みほさん for recording the voiced versions!

(Note: When unzipping the file, be sure to keep the .anki file in the same directory as the .media directory that contains the sounds and images!)

I've just uploaded an Anki deck that has the same content as the previous Remembering the Kana deck, but with the addition of recordings of the pronunciation of each kana or kana pair.

I've just uploaded the Anki deck for studying the vocab for Lesson 2. I also fixed a couple of small problems with the Lesson 1 deck, and re-uploaded that.
